I have difficulty finding some rare Chinese characters, can I create a new character?
- If you have not tried "Radical Lookup", please give it a try to see if you can find the character you look for by selecting the "Radicals" in it;
- If you know the "Unicode" encoding number, you can use "Unicode" input method, which allows you to type ALL legal Chinese characters into MS Word 97, Word 2000 or Word 2003;
You can view or download the Unicode 5.0 Chinese character list (in PDF file):
a. Unicode Unihan (~21,000),
b. Unicode CJK Extension A (~8,000),
c. Unicode CJK Extension B (~41,000)The above charts includes all Chinese characters as well as their Unicode Hex numbers for inputting with "NJStar Communicator". The total number of Chinese characters in the Unicode standard are about 70,000.
- If you can not find a character in Unicode from the above step 2, then this character is indeed "illegal" (so to speak - in linguistic sense), which will not be recognized by anyone because it does not exist anywhere. NJStar Communicator does not have a function to create an incorrect character because the program's objective is to communicate with common standard encoding.
